      <title>Interview Questions and Answers</title>
      <description>CS082505
clericalwkrs10commonintervie...
1. Did you work in an office back in your native country?
Yes, I worked in an insurance office for three years. I was an office assistant, and I worked in the human resources department. I really enjoyed it.
2. What skills do you have?
I can type and file, and I can use Microsoft Word and Excel. I also know how to use a 10-key adding machine, and I have experience doing books.
3. Where do you see yourself in five years? What kind of job would you like to have then?
I would like to continue doing the same kind of work, but hopefully move up in the company and have more responsibility.
4. What kind of work do you like to do the most? Why?
I think I like working with numbers the most because I&#8217;m good at math and quite detail-oriented.
5. Why did you leave your last job?
I left in order to come to the U.S. Some of my close family members had already immigrated here, and I felt there would be more opportunity for me here.
6. Tell me about your education.
I have a high school diploma and an accounting assistant certificate which I got after completing a two-year program.
7. Describe yourself. What kind of person are you? (Use at least three adjectives.)
I&#8217;m punctual and hard-working, and I&#8217;m a fast learner. And I think most people I&#8217;ve worked with would agree that I work well under pressure and get along well with others.
8. What were your duties on your most recent job?
I typed letters. I answered the phone. I made copies. I filed, and I ordered supplies.
9. Have you ever been fired? If so, please explain why.
Actually, yes. My supervisor and I had very different personalities. I have no hard feelings at all, and I&#8217;m eager to move on and accept new challenges. (difficult tasks; things that test your ability)

10. Would you be willing to accept a part-time position, or are you only looking for something permanent?
My goal is to get a permanent position, but I&#8217;m certainly open to a part-time one, especially if it gives me a chance to learn more about your company.

      <title>Interview: Aren't you overqualified for this position?</title>
<description>I can certainly understand why you think I am, but remember that English is my second language. That&#8217;s why I enrolled in the Office Training Program at City College. I'm learning the skills and language to do well in a position in this country and to get used to the way business is done here.
This can be a win-win situation for both of us. You will get a fast learner, and I'll get a job I can do very well and I&#8217;ll be able to get up to speed in English.
I'm not just looking to fill time. (=just make money until I find a better job). Down the road, I will be able to contribute to the company in a higher-level position.
Believe me, if you hire me, you won't be disappointed.
